Principal Broker

The founder, and principal broker, of National Kennel Sales & Appraisals, Teija Heikkila, is a veteran of the industry. Her ‘dog resume’ includes an owner/operator of two animal care facilities providing boarding, daycare, grooming, self wash, retail and training.  She’s been a professional dog trainer for 18 years (pet dog training, competitive obedience, agility and show handling), taking pride in her 15 years of serving as a contract trainer for Canine Companions for Independence (www.cci.org) a service dog provider organization.  In owning her own facilities, she has a direct, hands-on experience of boarding, daycare, grooming, client relations, staff supervision, marketing, budgeting, tax planning, selling, etc.  She also serves as a consultant to start-ups, turn-arounds and businesses striving to excel and be profitable.

However, a pet industry resume is not sufficient in being an expert in selling or appraising animal care facilities.  After successfully selling her last facility, Teija obtained the necessary credentials in business brokering and appraising. This combination of industry experience and certifications in the business brokering and appraising fields is what truly sets her apart from other brokers.  Teija also holds a real estate brokering license in several states of the US.
